A Lost Dogs' Home study revealed that the average amount of dog poo generated by a dog each day is 100 gms.

1. If there are around 300,000 dogs living in Melbourne how many tonnes of dog poo do they make each day?

30 tonnes: 300,000 x 100 gms = 30,000,000 gms divided by 1000 = 30,000 kgs divided by 1,000 = 30 tonnes

2. If there are around 900,000 dogs living in Victoria how many tonnes do they make? 90 tonnes

There are around 3,972,000 dogs in Australia (2002 estimate)
